1. About Expressive Island

Expressive Island is an Android customisation utility that provides an interactive, Dynamic Island-style overlay for supported notifications, media controls, navigation, timers, live activities, system controls and third-party app integrations.

Features include expressive animations, multiple simultaneous cards, custom shortcuts and gestures, and configurable layouts. Availability and compatibility depend on your device, Android version, installed apps and permissions.

2. Permissions and accessibility

Some features require permissions such as notification access, Accessibility Service access, display over other apps, and access to supported system settings. Optional features may also require Bluetooth or Shizuku-related authorisation.

You choose which permissions to grant and may revoke them through Android Settings. Some features may stop working if their required permissions are disabled. See our Privacy Policy for more information about data access and processing.

3. Purchases and subscriptions

Expressive Island offers free functionality and optional paid upgrades, including monthly subscriptions and lifetime purchases.

• Monthly subscriptions: Automatically renew unless cancelled before the next billing period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through Google Play. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Lifetime purchases: Provide access to the premium features included in the lifetime offering without recurring subscription charges. They do not guarantee that the app or any individual feature will remain available indefinitely.
• Payments and refunds: Purchases are processed through Google Play. Prices and terms are shown before purchase. Refunds and cancellations are subject to applicable Google Play policies and consumer protection laws.

4. Third-party apps and integrations

Expressive Island can interact with supported apps and services, including navigation, media, clock and other compatible apps. Unless expressly stated, we are not affiliated with or endorsed by those third-party providers.

Updates to Android, third-party apps or their services may change or interrupt compatibility. We cannot guarantee that every integration will continue to work.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use Expressive Island lawfully and not to misuse, disrupt or interfere with the app, circumvent its purchase or licensing systems, or infringe the rights of others. You are also responsible for complying with the terms of third-party apps and services you use.

6. Updates and availability

We may update, modify, suspend or discontinue features to improve the app, address security concerns or respond to changes in Android or supported integrations. We aim to provide a reliable experience but cannot promise uninterrupted operation or compatibility with every device.

7. Intellectual property

Expressive Island and its original software, branding, design and animations are owned by Sam Beckman or the relevant rights holders. Subject to these Terms and applicable law, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for lawful personal purposes. Ownership of the app and its intellectual property is not transferred to you.

8. Disclaimers and liability

Expressive Island is a supplementary interface. Do not rely on it as your sole source of critical notifications, alarms, navigation instructions or emergency information.

To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided on an “as available” basis without guarantees of uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable guarantees under Australian Consumer Law and mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction.

9. Privacy

Please review our Privacy Policy to understand the information the app accesses and how it is handled. The Privacy Policy is separate from these Terms.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app, applicable laws or our services change. The current version will be published on this page with an updated effective date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or seek consent.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, subject to mandatory consumer protection laws that apply in your jurisdiction.
